EASTERN COATINGS SHOW 2025 

Vinavil Americas exhibited at the Eastern Coatings Show held in May.  This coatings industry conference and symposium is held on alternating years in the northeast United States.  The conference was a success with 1200 attendees present over the 3-day event held at a conference center in Atlantic City, New Jersey.  Vinavil was one of 120 participating exhibitors at the conference that also featured 42 technical papers encouraging attendance of coatings formulators and scientists from the region. Neal Rogers from Vinavil Americas commercial team greeted customers and introduced new prospects to the Vinavil polymer line at a hosted booth during the show.  Vinavil’s presence was reinforced by the sales team of EM Sullivan, regional distribution partner of Vinavil in the northeast US.

AITIVA DAY 2025

VINAVIL recently took part in AITIVA DAY, a key event for the paints and coatings sector, during which a technical presentation was given titled *“Advancing Water-Based Coatings for Concrete: Designing High-Performance Acrylic Polymers”*, presented by Michele Motelli.

The occasion represented an important opportunity for exchange with industry professionals and clients, who showed strong interest not only in the presented work but also in the ongoing research, development, and innovation activities.

Special thanks go to AITIVA for the invitation and the excellent organization of the event; it confirmed the value of technical dialogue and qualified networking as fundamental tools for growth and the strengthening of expertise in the sector.

UATCM WEBINAR 

On June 5th, a webinar on the topic of Decarbonization was held, organized by UATCM (Union of Mediterranean Culture Technical Associations), which includes AFTPVA (France), AITIVA (Italy), and APTETI (Portugal).

The event, which saw wide participation, focused on the strategies that companies in the sector are adopting to address the new challenges of sustainability. Various players in the industry took part, both as raw material suppliers and as companies specializing in consulting services.

Vinavil participated in the event, and through Luigi Mora, delivered a presentation titled “Sustainability: a practical approach”, which illustrated the initiatives the company is implementing to reduce the environmental impact of its processes. The presentation also covered the use of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) as a tool to evaluate improvements, and concrete examples of how the introduction of sustainable raw materials can contribute to lowering the environmental impact of finished products.

The occasion was also used to inform attendees about Vinavil’s sustainable offerings for the coatings sector, including biobased polymers and, more notably, various bio-attributed solutions using the mass balance approach - now available thanks to the ISCC+ certifications of both the Villadossola and Ravenna production sites.

Vinavil’s presentation generated significant interest among participants, followed by an extended Q\&A session - demonstrating the high relevance and importance of these topics today.

CULTURAL HERITAGE RESTORATION PROJECT

On April 15th, the thesis defense session for the Single-Cycle Master’s Degree in Conservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage - a qualification recognized under Legislative Decree 42/2004 - was held at the University of Bologna, Ravenna campus.

The thesis, presented by candidate Marion Denis, was the result of a collaborative effort between France and Italy. It involved the restoration workshops of the Fondazione RavennAntica and the Musée de Saint-Romain-en-Gal, as part of a broader project aimed at fostering dialogue on restoration methods and materials used in both countries.

Within this framework, Vinavil Spa played a key role through the expertise of Fabio Chiozza. A section of the thesis focused on the study of adhesives used in the facing (velinatura) process of archaeological mosaics - an essential step to stabilize the tesserae before the mosaic is removed from its archaeological site. In particular, the research evaluated the performance of several polyvinyl acetate (PVAc) homopolymers, including water-based emulsions produced by Vinavil.

We strongly believe that international collaborations of this nature- designed to compare methodologies across borders in the field of cultural heritage conservation - can yield highly positive and enriching results for all parties involved. We look forward to supporting future thesis projects that continue to explore these important intersections between science and heritage preservation.
