Vinavil, once again this year, collaborated with Yuri Catani, the Swiss-Italian visual artist known for his monumental street art installations. With our donation of VINAVIL NCP STELLA BIANCA glue, Yuri created the work "Universo," a striking paste-up composition weaving black-and-white faces of those who live the USI (University of Italian Switzerland in Lugano) every day: students, professors, academic staff, and collaborators.
The piece consists of a large 20-meter-diameter kaleidoscopic circle immersed in a symbolic garden made of colorful flowers, like a rainbow. The colored flowers represent the different Faculties: green for Economics, blue for Communication, yellow for Computer Science, red for Biomedicine, gray for Architecture, and purple for Theology, emphasizing the meaning of the "Play Your Future" campaign, created by the same artist.
A chromatic and botanical language that highlights the uniqueness of each academic path and the personal development of each individual, metaphorically compared to a seed blossoming in fertile ground like that of USI.
The street art piece, made through participatory art methods, involved volunteers of all ages, including middle and high school students who enjoyed cutting out photos. The work was inaugurated on Saturday, May 10, 2025, during the University’s OPEN DAY.
"Universo" aims to be a visual mosaic telling the identity and energy of the USI community. The University, in fact, exists thanks to the people who work, teach, and study there.
